My Journey Through Life

hey guys!
Once again, sorry for not posting the last weeks! I was working and on vacations....
But hre I am with a new Trend Check, this time The Ponchos!

I don't know how the weather is where you live, but here it's getting colder and colder (summer please stay!). Since Burberry launched their Burberry Poncho with the initials of the Models/It-Girls more shops are imitating the ponchos. There are lots of different styles and materials they are mode of, doesn't matter if it's wool or cashmere.

Lots of Streetstyler and models wear them now that it's getting colder by just throwing them over. here you can see some different styles I put together from searching in the internet:

Olivia Palermo and Alexa Chung were one of the first to have the Burberry ponchos.

You can wear them with Jeans or other pants - but the best is to wear heels with them, since the ponchos make you look a bit smaller.

You can also wear your favourite dress and throw the poncho over, when it's cold outside

A lot of fashionistas wear them with high-knees!

Here I out some sets together with outfits with clothes under $50!

Poncho: H&M ($38)
Dress: Glamourous ($40)
Boots: Sheinside ($42)
Bag: Kate Spade via Renttherunway ($30)
Necklace: Shopdandylionboutique ($10)
Rings: Kohl's ($12)

Poncho: Only ($27)
Jumpsuit: H&M ($18)
High Knees: Cicihot ($55)
Bag: REbecca Minkoff via Renttherunway ($30)
Rings: Forever21 ($6)
Earrings: Overstock ($25)

Poncho: H&M ($45)
Crop Top: New Look ($17)
Skirt: Pink Queen ($10)
High Knees: Urbanog ($48, available in black, taupe, tan and berry)
Bag: H&M ($45)

Poncho: Wetseal ($27)
Turtleneck: H&M ($22)
Jeans: New Look ($17)
Shoes: Wetseal ($35)
Bag: Venus ($29)

I hope you like it! I'll try to post more the next days. The next post will be a travel post again. But I'm still trying to figure out which one to tell you about: Vienna, Berlin or Rome. Tell me in the comments!

Hey guys!

Last week I’ve been to Rome, so I have another trip to tell you about beside all the others! I didn’t know which trip I should tell you about first, but my friend wanted to hear about Porto, so I decided for that.

So I was in Porto in august last year when I stayed at my cousin, who lives there, for 3 days. She didn’t have to work, so on the first day, we were only at the beach and in the second day, she took my so a sightseeing trip.
We started in the train station of Sao Bento, which is totally beautiful! The entrance hall’s wall are made of painted ceramic tile that show scenes of the History of Portugal.
From there we went the Rua das Flores down.

I love walking along little streets, they’re so beautiful with their little houses and balconies full of flowers. We passed by the Palacia das Artes, and then along the Rua Mouzinho da Silveira. We stopped at the Infante Dom Henrique Square in front of the Palacia da Bolsa, where sometimes Travel Trade Show take place. We didn’t go inside but from the pictures I found in the internet, it’s really pretty inside.

We went further down till coming to the Ribeira Square next to the River Tejo.

We were getting hungry so we decided to go over the Dom Luis I Bridge to Vila Nova de Gaia. It’s actually a city, but a lot of people think it belongs to Porto. We sat outside of a little restaurant next to river and ate a sandwich before continuing our promenade along the riverbank.
We stopped in a little street market and went inside of the Ferreira Port Wine cellar to have Wine Testing but there were sooo many people that we decided we’d rather go shopping.

So we went back to Porto (over the same bridge we had come) and went these terrible stairs up (I nearly diiiiiied). Passing by the Terreiro da Sé, a cathedral and the city’s oldest monument, the Train Station of Sao Bento, the church of Santo Illdefonso.
And then we finally reached Rua Santa Catarina, the shopping street. After shopping for a looooot of time, we went to a bus station and back home.

In the evening, we went to a mexican restaurant and a bar later.

The next day my cousin had night shift, so she slept till 2pm, and we walked a bit around her neighborhood. At the afternoon the sister of her boyfriend visited us and took me back home.

I can totally recommend going to Porto! It such a beautiful city with a lot of churches and houses with the typical Portuguese white/blue painted ceramic tiles. We can have look on our route on Google Maps if you want ;)

Hey Guys!

Here we go with the last part of my trip to London!

Soooo, on Thursday morning we had a guided tour in the Globe Theatre. It was really nice to see everything and getting told the old stories about it.
The tour only took a bit more than an hour and the teachers didn’t know what to do with us. So we went to the Tate Gallery of Modern Arts. When I was in Bilbao, I also went to the Guggenheim Museum and to be honest I didn’t like it. So I had my doubts if I’d like the Tate Gallery, but I can tell you it was amazing (and for free hahaha). The paintings were incredible and there was one that still is in my mind: Vietnam II. I stood in front of it a long time and had tears in my eyes. I even wrote about it in my Spanish graduation exam haha. The colors show the sorrow of the people so good, I just can’t explain… This painting pictures the tension and communicates a palpable threat of violence that is breathtaking. You know the saying: a picture is worth a thousand words? In this case, it suits perfectly.

After walking through the whole gallery, J, A, Ana and me went to Pret-a-manger. It’s soooo delicious! I had a tuna sandwich with capers, of which I still dream…  When we finished, we didn’t know if we were far away from Westminster Pier where we would meet with the rest of the group. So we started walking along the river Themes but me and J were getting annoyed by A und Ana because the stopped every few meters to take photos. Suddenly we didn’t find them anymore since we stopped waiting for them and continued to walk. So we decided to take the Underground because we had no idea where we were. When we finally reached Westminster Pier, everyone was waiting for us (we had to wait another 30 minutes for A and Ana who didn’t talk to J and me for the rest of the day).

We went on a cruise on the river Themes from Westminster to Greenwich and it was so beautiful to see all the buildings! We had so much luck it didn’t rain the whole week we stayed there, it was a bit fresh but very sunny.

When we arrived at Greenwich Pier, we had to walk half an hour to Greenwich Observatory to have a great view over London. The teacher wanted us to stay there for a longer time, but since we had to shower before going to the musical in the evening, we went to the hostel by our own (that wasn’t a great idea, we got lost in the huge Stratford Underground Station)
Like I already mentioned, in the evening we went to Lyceum Theatre to the Musical “The Lion King”. Guess who I got to sit next to? hahah yeesss my crush. I enjoyed the musical so much! The Lion King is practically my favorite Disney movie and I was able to talk and sing along with the actors in German. I don’t know if you have ever watched The Lion King, but there’s this romantic moment of Simba and Nala with the great song “Can You Feel The Night”, and the boys destroyed that lovely moment with their sarcastic “ooohhh that’s so cute”. I highly recommend you to visit the musical!
Since almost everybody was under 18 and we couldn’t go to any pub, we all went back to the hostel to celebrate 3 birthdays (the twins and a boy) at 12pm. So once again, we were all together on the stairs, talking and drinking, when a receptionist told us to be quiet or he’d kick us out. Even our teacher was there with us and started a discussion with him, but there was nothing we could do. At first, we all went to our rooms but then decided to go outside, where we stayed till about 3 am.

The next day we left London, but before, we went to the Houses of Parliament. It was interesting to see the Parliament from the inside, but we were pretty exhausted and there was no place we could sit (but I can tell you the seats where the ministers and lords take seat were sooooo appealing…) so it got a bit boring. Our guide was a bit old, so he didn't even try to tell something surprising... But what do you expect from a Parliament?
Fortunately, it didn’t take a long time and we still had time left to go to McDonalds before we went back to the hostel and to get to the bus. We also had a stop on the London Eye to see some street artist where we met Charlotte Campbell , a very lovely and talented young woman (I even bought her CD).

On our way back home, almost everybody sat on the seats from when we got to London. We talked and listened to music (Talk Dirty for ONE HOUR continuously! My friends in the front said that I sat in the “party corner” hahah), got on the fairy where the boys flirted with some random 15-year-old girls and gave them the phone number of the boy whose birthday it was, and got back to the bus.
Once again, my friend slept almost the whole bus ride, so I sat a few seats further forward, and since I’m “so small” my crush sat next to me so he had more space than next to his friend. We slept for a few hours, but once again it was so uncomfortable. The punk girl and I decided to take some photos of everyone who was sleeping and the pictures are so cute!
Finally, at 7am we arrived at our school and went home (where we all slept at first). In the evening was the party of the boys whose birthday it was, so we had to get fit ;)

I hope you enjoyed reading my post about London! I really had an amazing time there and I want to go back so hard! I love this city, it has such a sophisticated charm, but on the other side, it’s so multicultural…
See you soon,
Sara xx

True generosity is an offering; given freely and out of pure love. No strings attached. No expectations. - Suze Ormann

Hey guys! I know I haven't posted for a few weeks now and I'm really sorry about it. I didn't have a lot of time to write the third part of my trip to London, but I promise I'll finish the post as early as possible.
The reason I'm writing right now is a story I have just seen in TV. It was heartbreaking and that's why I have to tell you.
It was in a brasilian show that is broadcasted every sunday. They always show people which have a really hard life, but still manage to be happy. Today it was the story of a 11-year-old girl that made me cry for two hours.
It all began with Marcela, a 11-year-old girl that wrote a letter to the show asking for help for her friend who is very poor. Marcela herself lives modestly but her friend Kauany has neither electricity nor running water. They have to walk more than 3km to get fresh water. She lives in an 45-year-old house with her parents, 8 siblings and 2 nephews. The house is in danger of collapse and when it rains, it drips into the house. Kauany's mum told the reporter that the house was used by drug-addicts 15 years ago, before she asked them if she could get the house since her and her husband were unemployed.
The host of the show met the girls at the school and was always saying the word generosity. It's so touching seeing little girls that have already seen so much pain and poverty. You can tell by Kauany's character that she struggles with her situation; she's continuously crying and when she talks, she only says a few words.
Words can't describe what I'm feeling right now. It's so incomprehensible how so many people suffer hunger and thirst while others' biggest problem is which Chanel bag they're buying. It's so unfair how some people have to live while others are literally swimming in money. There's so much pain in this world and most of the times, people who don't have that much money themselves are the ones who help the most. This people are generous.
Fortunately, there was a rich lawyer who gave Kauany 90.000 Reais (brasilian currency) and 20.000 for Marcela. They also received a lot of toys, one year of basic groceries, a scholarship, clothes and some good their mums can use to make some money. So there are still some people out there who really care.
I would like to help so many people, I know that there is so much poverty out there. Not only in developing countries, but also in emerging nations and industrial countries, Unfortunately TV only shows this when there's a natural catastrophy like the earthquake in Nepal (my prayers go out to the families and there loved ones). But there are people dying everyday! Every minute! Hunger, terrorism, assassinations are problems that happen everyday not only when something happens in a developed country!
I hope I could draw your attention to this big problem that our society tries to hide and cover up by showing us celebrities wasting money on luxurious things that are NOT WORTH IT!

lots of love, sara xx

Hey Guys!

Happy April Fool’s Day! Don’t worry I won’t be playing a trick on you, I hate it!
So here I am again for continuing on my experience in London.

On Tuesday we left the hostel very early at about 9:30 am for a sightseeing tour in our coach. We picked up a guide who told us important information about the most important London sights we got to see. You can imagine that we all were still very tired, so most of us slept a bit during the tour. It took us about 2 and a half hour, I don’t really remember, the I only thing I know is that about 12am the coach stopped in front of Madame Tussaud’s so we had the whole afternoon for ourselves.

Like always the boys went to KFC, like every lunch (for dinner they ate Subway – I still don’t understand, there was sooo delicious food!) while my friend, the punk girl & her friend and me went to a little fish n chips restaurant. For £5 we ate soo much and so good! At the same time as the boys left the KFC, we paid our lunch at walked with them the whole Baker Street till we finally reached Oxford Street. The boys only were interested in the expensive (at least for me) shops like Abercrombie & Hollister. My friend and me first went to Primark (I got a sweater and a hoodie), than to New Look, Topshop, Forever 21 (one more sweater) till we were so tired of shopping, that we decided to go by underground to Westminster. There we took some photos of the Houses Of Parliament, the Aquarium and the London Eye.

We got back to the hostel to get ready for the evening programm. All together with the London B group we went to Shakespeare’s Globe to watch Macbeth. 3 hours of watching a play where you only could understand half of it because it was in old English. And we had to stand! At least there was such a funny man who had an incredible laugh so that everyone in the globe had to laugh we he laughed. Don’t get me wrong, it was really good, but after 1 ½ hour, our feet hurt so much that we left the Globe in the break. We (2 girls from my French class, let me call them J and A, a girl from my old class, Ana, and 4 of the boys – yeeees my crush included) sat a bit outside on some benches and waited for the play to end. When everyone got outside we even heard the teachers say that they also left in the break. And that’s when the best phrase of the weak was said by the teacher I hated the most: “I think you are all old enough to go to the hostel alone, we teachers are going to a pub, so good night till tomorrow.” We all stand there like whaaaaat?
So we went home alone, there was nothing we could do as underage teenagers. After the Milleniumbridge nobody really knew where we had to go, so we divided ourselves up. J, A, Ana and me tried to walk the way back we had gone when we left the hostel, but we got lost at St. Paul’s Cathedral. It took us over 1 hour to find to the St. Paul’s station, I don’t know what he did wrong hahaha.
When we finally got home we still talked a bit on the stairs till we went to bed at about midnight.

On Wednesday we started at 9:30am again to visit the Buckingham Palace. I can tell you it’s incredibly beautiful from the inside! Everything was white, red and gold, and there was a long hall with paintings of all English kings and queens. It was truly worth it! If I remember right we had about 3 hours to go through the Palace before we met for the Changing of the Guards. J, A, Ana, the 4 boys and me were finished after 1 hour and sat outside in the park of the palace. It was so funny to observe the different types of tourists who were there. One of the boys, was starting to make a plan on how to get to the bedroom of the queen when a guard passed by and he was so scared that he didn’t talk for the rest of the time hahaha.

Unfortunately, there were soooo many people that we didn’t see almost anything from the changing of the guards, so that my friend, her male best friend and me went to St. Jame’s Park to plan the rest of the afternoon. We were getting hungry so we decided to go to Camden once again, since there was such a great variety of food.

When we got there, we first tried everything and after 1 hour we finally decided to eat something Turkish. 3 other boys (the ones who went with my friend on the first evening to the Tower Bridge) found us and sat with us to eat. And while we were eating one of the boys was shit twice (first on the shoulder and then on the head) by the same bird. His face was hilarious! We bought him a new shirt because it smelled really bad…

My friend and I always wanted an Obey sweater so we went to Urban Outfitters and American Apparel in Camden but they were sooo expensive! So we went back to the Market and searched for some. My friend found a grey one for £25, but she negotiated and got it for £17. Two little shops away, I got my black Obey Sweater for £15 without negotiating and she was so pissed hahahha.

At 4pm, we had to be back at Madame Tussaud’s where everyone was waiting for us. I really enjoyed it, you could take pictures with reaaally realistic dolls. Of course I took a picture with One Direction ahahhahah. But also with president Obama, Brangelina, Beyoncé and a lot more. The employees of Madama Tussaud's are doing a great job! I mean it's incredible how realistic most of the wax figures look!

This was our only free evening, so I went to the London Eye all together. Not everybody was willing to pay £18, so some went to a gambling shop, and the others … I don’t know to be honest. I think the £18 were totally worth it, because you had such an amazing view over London.

After the 45 minutes on the London Eye, we met with J, A and Ana in Starbucks where we got something to eat and drink. Since it was getting late, we drove back to the hostel where most of the boys where getting pretty drunk. We sat all together on the stairs and talked and laughed till some stupid girls from the room in front of ours came out and started discussing.
“You all should shut up, we can’t sleep and are so tired!” one of the girls said. We looked at each other and started laughing because she and her friends were still in their normal clothes and with makeup on. One of the boys said: “you don’t look like you’re trying to sleep”.
“We’re leaving tomorrow and have to get up at 9am”
“And we will leave the hostel at 9am so we have to get up even earlier. And we will walk the whole day through London, that’s a bit more exhausting than sitting in a coach”, I responded. They got even angrier and went down to the reception and complained about us. A young man – about 25 – with dreadlocks and a really tired (or maybe stoned hahah) gaze came to us and told us to be a bit quiet. Another boy, who was pretty drunk at that moment – said to him in a very bad english: “heeeeii my friend. There iss no problem at alllll. We’re juust enjoying life ya know. We will let them sleep and be quiet for half an hour issss that okeeey?” The young man just nodded and went down, so we could continue. But at about 2am we were getting tired and also went to bed.

I know it’s by far not as funny reading it than it was being there and living it. But I hope I you still like it and I’m bringing you London a bit closer J

Thursday and Friday will be on Part 3, see you next time! xx

Hey Guys!

Since I don't have any classes today, I thought I could start with some of the new topic I'll start with the blog-makeover.

So first I'm going to tell you about my trip to London.

I'll start with this one because it's was by far my favourite. I don't know why, but I feel really attached to that city, it's incredible!

I was there because of the graduation trip the school organizes every year for the 12th class. I could have opted for Barcelona or Venice (like my best friends) but I didn't because I reaaallly wanted to go to London. I mean don't get me wrong, I love summer and the rain, so the weather wasn't the crucial criteria. I didn't even go with my best friends, the only person I got along with before the trip was a girl that has been in my form since 5th class.

But yes, that was it - introverted little Sara decided to go alone (with a not as good friend) to London. And I can tell you I don't regret it a single second!

The best was when we got to know who was in which city trip - my current crush was also in London. So you can tell that I was by far really happy.

On September 22nd we started the trip in the evening to get to London by bus. From south Germany. What means 16 hours of sitting in a bus with 60 other people.

Since I sleep with my mouth a bit open, I hate to sleep when other people are around. I can tell you that this night started really funny with everyone being super excited but when everyone got tired it was torture. I didn't have to be scared of falling asleep becaus eit was impossible with all the boys trying to have it comfy in the little coach seats. My friend and me had really luck to have 2 seats next to us unoccupied so both of us had 2 seats to spread ourselves. But the poor boys hadn't. In the night when half of the bus was sleeping it was pretty boring for me since my friend slept almos the whole journey. The only person who was also awake was a girl I only had biology with and I thought she was really strange. Punk style and mhhhh... But I was totally wrong! She was so nice and we played till 4am Mahjong on her Tablet. And yeah there was my crush trying to sleep 2 seats in front of me but he was by far to tall for his seat.

After being on the ferry from Calais to Dover for 1 1/2 hour we got back to the coach and our "beloved" teacher forced us to watch Macbeth. And it was horribly loud so one more time it was impossible to sleep. But my crush feel asleep and everyone was laughing because he was always almost falling out of his seat till I offered him the 2 seats I was sitting. But it was only for one hour till we finally arrived at London.

We were all so happy to finally get into a bed or have a shower but we couldn't get into the hostel, because we arrived to early to check in. You can imagine 60 exhausted faces of youngsters looking at their teachers.

So we still had 2 hours till we could check in, and our 4 teachers tooked us to Camden Market. We finally got something proper to eat - I got some indian chicken. Hahah and than while we were all eating and sitting by the little river in Camden, one of the boys got shitted by a bird. Hilarious!

The teachers told us that we could go back to the hostel by ourselves or with them at 3pm. My friend and me were so tired that we decided to go alone back and relax a bit in the hostel lounge but that didn't occur. We got lost in our first ride with the Underground. We landed up in nowhere and had to drive back to Camden and try it once again. And this time we did it :D

When we arrived to the hostel everyone was already there and we finally got into our rooms. By the way the rooms were huge - we were 10 girls in the room. We had normal bunk beds but all the others had 3 storey bunk beds!

In the evening we went to Chinatown (where most of us went eating), Covent Garden (where I was with the punk girl, her friend, some other from my french class and my crush and his friends in Five Guys).

After that we went to Picadilly Circus where one of the teachers got lost for over an hour in Cool Britannia while everyone was waiting outside. We visited Trafalger Square and had the option to go back to the hostel with the teachers or do what we wanted but get back till 12pm. I was so tired - like almost everyone- that I went home. My friend and 3 other of her male friends went to the Tower Bridge (but she slept about 15 hours, me noooot) On the way home when we sat in the underground one teacher looked at us - me, the punk girl, 4 boys including my crush- and said: "you all look so horrible!" Like... Thank yoouuu!

I know it's incredible but we all went to bed at 10pm since we were soooo exhausted! We were so decent on our graduation trip hahah.

I think I'm going to devide the trip up, since so much happend, I can't tell you everything at once. So what happened on Tuesday I'll tell you in the next post. I hope it's okey and you liked this post!

Lots of love xx

Hey guys!
I just wanted to let you know that I'll be changing the blog a bit. I've noticed that I don't have a looot to say about fashion and I need some time to make a fashion post. And since I don't want you to wait for a long time till I finally finished a post, I'll start posting about beauty, and some of my travel experiences. I'm so into travalling and getting to know new cities, and since I started going to uni, this passion is getting even bigger. I hope you will still like my blog and keep checking it out! And if you have any topics you want me to talk about, just comment in a post or contact me via the contact field I will install on the right side bar.
xx Sara

PS: I'm also going to change the name of the blog to saras-journeythroughlife.blogspot.de. Just that you know if you don't find it under the old URL, but I'll let it for some time like this, so that everyone has time to see this post :)
